'Catch Me If You Can' Title Sequence:
I will be analysing the title sequence from the 2002 film directed by Steven Spielberg starring Leonardo Di Caprio and Tom Hanks.
This particular title sequence is very different to others in the sense that if you have watched the film already, you would know that it establishes the narrative throughout the sequence which is very unique.
The sequence starts off with a blue background and in writing says 'Dream Works Presents.' Dream works is the studio that has produced the film so it already establishes that straight away which is very conventional of a title sequence. An animated character then walks on the screen and as he walks on the writing changes to 'A kemp Company and Splendid Pictures Production.' This is just telling us the other production companies involved to help make the film.
In addition to this we can see that there are planes in the background which can insinuate that maybe someone is trying to get away. There is also another character that appears with a bag and a hat and the other character is looking at him r her from a distance almost as if he is going to get him/her.

It then goes on to show the directors name 'Steven Spielberg' this is important as the director deserves his credit and also he has massive star power so it draws more attention into it. After this the name changes to the main characters name 'Leonardo DiCaprio' and has an arrow pointing down at the character telling us that the animated character is Leonardo DiCaprio. so this establishes character already and brings in a mass audience because he has a lot of star power.
After this it goes into a close up of Leonardo Dicaprio's chapter and he jumps past a line and changes into a hat and has a bag. It then pans out and shows someone on the opposite side who is a lot bigger and he is reading a paper. The person then looks over at Leonardo DiCaprio who is facing the way an arrow is insulting he is trying to get out. While this is happening the name ' Tom Hanks' appears' and has an arrow pointing at the bigger person telling us that he is Tom Hanks. This size difference may infer that 'Tom Hanks' has more power in the film.
